The Roots of ORIGIN

Hi, I’m Ms. J.

I’m a mathematics teacher, curriculum designer, and the founder of ORIGIN.

I’ve spent more than a decade working in classrooms across different countries, and I’m currently completing a PhD focused on strengths-based development and teacher wellbeing. My work sits somewhere between learning design, human development, and creating systems that actually support teachers long term.

But the truth is, none of this started with research papers or frameworks.
It started with students.

Students sitting in my classroom saying things like,
“I’m just bad at math.”
“I hate this.”
“When am I ever going to use this in real life?”

And honestly, I understood why they felt that way.

Over time, I realised the problem wasn’t only the content but the experience of learning itself.

I started noticing how differently students responded depending on how a classroom was designed. Some students shut down completely in traditional environments, while others thrived the moment they felt useful, capable, or connected to something meaningful.

At the same time, I watched incredible teachers burn themselves out trying to create engaging, supportive classrooms without enough time, support, or sustainable systems behind them.

That’s really where my work began.

Not from the idea of “fixing education,” but from wanting classrooms to feel more human for the people inside them.

Today, through ORIGIN, I design learning experiences and professional development that help schools build stronger participation, meaningful contribution, and sustainable teaching practices.

A lot of my work focuses on future-ready learning, strengths-based development, teacher wellbeing, and helping students see themselves as capable contributors rather than passive learners.

But underneath all of it, the thing I care about most is simple… Helping people feel like they belong in the learning process.

Because when people understand how they contribute, they stop questioning whether they’re good enough to be there.
